Looking for help with "440 Posting Not Allowed" server error

I have been able to post messages to any microsoft newsgroups but when I try
posting to newsgroups via titannews.com (for which I am subscribed) I always
get a "440 Posting Not Allowed" server error. This wouldn't have anything to
do with needing posting privelages for the newgroup would it? If it's a
server error then it's not even getting to the intended newsgroup? Or may
this type of error result from other causes? My next step after posting this
will be to contact titannews (which will be slow in responding I'm sure) but
maybe there's a seasoned usenet user who can point me in the right direction
for resolving this? Any help would be apppreciated.

I have been unsuccessful posting to titannews servers' newsgroups using
both NewsRover and Outlook Express. For example, I am subscribed to this
newsgroup, microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general, for both the microsoft
server and titannews' server. I am able to post to this group from msnews
but get the 440 error with titannews. However, I am able to retrieve/read
others messages from the titannews server, just apparently can't send.

Move to a different news group server that actually works such as
news.individual.net (small subscription required) or Google Groups.

You may be trying to post in a Read Only newsgroup. Find a better one at
Newzbot:

It has everything to do with needing posting privileges.

Many news servers require a logon. In Outlook Express this is specified
at Tools, Accounts, News, Properties, Server.

You need to check with titannews.com for their requirements.
